Please don’t
Not for music streaming services
Please don’t re-upload the music to music streaming services (Spotify, Apple Music etc.), and no remixes, samples or covers there, because that triggers false Content ID claims.
What CC BY 4.0 means
You can copy, share and use the music for any purpose, including commercial, if you give credit, link or name the licence, and say if you changed it. The full legal text is at creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0.
Livestreaming is fine
Playing the music on a live stream, in the VOD and in clips is the point of this site. Only uploading it to music streaming services is not allowed.
Keep this as proof
If a platform’s automatic system ever flags the music, point to the licence. Copy the text below into your notes, or print this page.
Licence proof for stream and VOD use Music: Purrple Cat, CC BY 4.0 Licence: Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International, https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Source: https://streamerfriendly.com/ Status: not registered in Content ID Page last built: 2026-10-23
If a claim happens anyway
- Don’t panic: automatic systems make mistakes.
- Open the platform’s dispute or appeal form and name the licence (CC BY 4.0) and the artist (Purrple Cat).
- Attach or paste the licence proof above and the credit line you used.
- Read the VOD mute guide for Twitch specifics.
What this is not
It isn’t legal advice, and no free licence can stop a machine from making a mistake. It is a clear, public, written permission, which is the best proof there is.

QUESTIONS
Frequently asked questions
Is this music really free for streamers?
Yes. All 281 tracks here are by Purrple Cat, released under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0). Use them in live streams, VODs, clips and uploads, on monetised channels too. The only condition is credit: “Music: Purrple Cat, CC BY 4.0”.
What credit line do I use?
The short one is “Music: Purrple Cat, CC BY 4.0”. Put it in your channel panels and in every video or VOD description. The credit line generator makes versions for a panel, a YouTube description, markdown, HTML and chat, for the whole catalogue, a playlist or one track.
Will my VODs or clips be claimed or muted?
This music is not registered in Content ID. No source can promise that an automated system will never make a mistake, so keep the licence page as proof and use the platform’s dispute process if it ever happens.
How do I put the music and the credit on screen in OBS?
Add the overlay URL as a Browser source at 1920 by 1080. It plays the playlist you choose and shows the track with the credit line as a lower-third. The overlay page has a generator for style, position and playlist.
Can I use it for a 24/7 stream?
Yes. Livestreaming is fine. The 8-hour mix has no repeats and the overlay loops it by itself. Credit it in the stream description.
Can I upload the music to Spotify or Apple Music?
No. Please do not re-upload it to music streaming services (Spotify, Apple Music etc.), and no remixes, samples or covers there, because that triggers false Content ID claims.
Does the overlay work in Streamlabs, Meld, Kick or YouTube Live?
It is a normal web page, so it works anywhere that can show a browser source or a web page. Add the same URL as a browser source or web overlay.
Who makes the music?
Purrple Cat, an independent lofi project since 2018 with 500+ songs. Every track here is an original instrumental released from 2020 onward.
